Vintage Turkmen Silver Heart Tribal Asyk Statement Necklace
The Protective Asyk Pendant is a stunner.
The large, broad heart centerpiece is a traditional amulet known as an Asyk in Turkmen and Uzbek tribal culture, historically worn as a sacred protective talisman.
This is likely a mid century piece. 80-90 years old.
The beautiful surface design, painstakingly hammered entirely by hand from the reverse side to push out the beautiful floral details.
It has agate and possibly carnelian or red agate cabochons.
It tests positive for silver on an acid test so is likely a lower grade tribal silver alloy which was commonly made from melted down silver coins combined with other metals and coins such as brass and copper etc.
The bottom of the heart features a fluid, cascading tassel fringe made of delicate dangling metal discs. It is designed to catch the light and create a soft, musical jingling sound as the wearer moves.
Good Vintage Condition
Some natural patina and there is a mark on back which indicate perhaps metal alloy or similar underneath silver top coat.

So I am offering you a wee bargain.
My handpicked jewellery is usually vintage and or preloved so please expect some signs of wear. I only sell pieces I would wear personally. The photos form part of the description so have a good nose. I delicately clean pieces in need but try and not remove patina from vintage or antique pieces as this removes the story of the piece.
I accept returns on everything if notified within 14 days but please be mindful that I am a one woman small business and only request returns for crucial reasons as I cannot sustain lots of them.
Please see my returns policy at bottom of homepage for more info.
